How do i control my freesat from another room?

  Lamberts aerials  freesat installers Sheffield

Living in Sheffield has its ups and downs, literally! Having all those hills mean houses built on inclines. This can make things harder for aerial installs. An aerial that works for one house, may not work a couple of streets or even doors down, due to line of sight issues. This is where freesat comes into its own. Because freesat is a satellite service the dish has to look into the sky to get its signal,  thus avoiding most buildings and hills, (objects close-by like trees, can and will affect satellite signals).

Another good thing about freesat is, wherever you are the signals are roughly the same, unlike Freeview transmitters that are limited to what strength they can push out signals due to possible interferrence from other transmitters (signal overlap). This problem already exists around Manchester.

So if your in a bad Freeview reception area consider getting a freesat install with a dish thats only 43cm, as opposed to going for an large aerial and mast install. Its amazing how many customers are adamant they want to go down the freeview route just because they have recently bought the TV with it built in !

freesat was set up to ensure that everyone can access the best of digital satellite TV, for free, no matter where they live in the UK. freesat is a not-for-profit company owned by the nation's two most popular broadcasters, the BBC and ITV.

freesat brings you over 150 great digital TV and radio channels. Favourites like BBC Three, BBC Four, ITV2, ITV3, More 4 and Film Four are all yours, with no contract and no monthly bills.

Plus freesat offers up to 70 hours a week of HD from the BBC and ITV at no extra cost.

To be able to view freesat you will need a small satellite dish installed on a south facing wall. The dish is aligned to the same satellite (28.2E) as the sky satellite dishes. A cable is then run from the dish to the room where you freesat box needs to go.

freesat +

freesat + gives you the same channels as freesat and freesat HD but with the added capability of being able to watch one channel and record another, or record two separate channels and watch a pre-recorded program. With freesat+ you can pause the action and pick up where you left off. Recording with freesat is easy and free.

Find a programme you want to record in the On Screen TV Guide and press the 'record' button on your remote control. There's no need for tapes, timers or DVDs.

iPLAYER

freesat is the first subscription-free TV service to offer BBC iPlayer, letting you catch up on BBC TV from the past 7 days. You get all the benefits of watching BBC iPlayer, direct to your main TV set.

Play, pause and rewind BBC TV programmes from the past week or discover new BBC TV series you may have missed the first time around.

What do I need?

To watch BBC iPlayer on freesat you’ll need a freesat HD box, freesat+ box or freesat HD TV. You will also need a broadband connection of at least 1Mbps - you can connect your freesat receiver to the internet yourself or arrange professional installation.

The BBC iPlayer service is currently being rolled out across all freesat HD products. Check which freesat receivers can receive BBC iPlayer at the moment.
